Hello! Welcome to All Things Green Living!!
Hi!! Thank you for visiting my Green Living blog. I hope you like what you find here and decide to stick around for a while. For starters I love chocolate, All Things Green Living, God, my family and friends, Morkies, travel, and Star Wars.
I was born in Mexico, in a small town called Tepic, in the state of Nayarit. Tepic is in a valley among lush green forest and volcanos. It’s between Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta. Being in between two of my most favorite cities in Mexico is one of my many favorite things about this place! Don’t even get me started on all the delicious food, tropical fruits and sea food!
When I came to the states I was just 5 years old. Living in the San Fernando Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles I quickly learned to speak English. Marilyn Monroe went to my High School! Van Nuys Senior High is a magnet school for the performing arts. Where many movies and tv shows have been filmed. A Stairway to Heaven with Michael Landon, remember this show from the 80’s? How about Fast Times at Richmond High?? Yeah that was filmed there too!
Right after High School I attended Waterson College for commercial art, advertising and marketing. Years later I went to San Diego City College, then Allan Hancock College for Real Estate. Sadly, I never actually graduated. Not to make excuses for myself but I was a bit busy being an A student at the University of Hard Knocks.
Life was not always sunshine and roses.
My mother brought me to the USA from Mexico, because she got married here while helping my aunt with her new born baby. Up until then I had been living with my grandparents for about a year. My grandparents and I met the newlyweds in Tijuana, Mexico. Seeing him for the 1st time I thought he was very handsome! I was beaming with pride!
Back then I didn’t know the difference between a biological dad and a step dad, the subject never came up. All my cousins had their dads, I don’t think I ever questioned who or where my dad was. Maybe because my uncles and grandfather took over the role of a father figure? I don’t really know why and I never asked but what I do know is that I was crazy proud of him and he seemed nice.
Soon he revealed who he really was.
Sadly he was a man haunted by some pretty awful demons. For over a decade my mom and I got the brunt of both his physical and emotional abuse. Lots of self love and patience is what it took to heal through many years of my adult life. Over several years I read my fair share of books on self-improvement. There were a few failed relationships in the process but I gained two amazing daughters!
Good thing I’m a firm believer in the power of prayer and that EVERYTHING happens for a reason. Now I am a stronger and better woman for having gone through some of the most harrowing experiences. However, there are somethings from which you just can’t heal. To this day I have a severe math anxiety and I can’t stand the sight of blood or else I’d faint. Talk about PTSD!!
I’ve since married Jim, an inexplicably patient and loving man.
Fast rides and amusement parks are some of the ties that bind us. We enjoy traveling together and both are huge Sci Fi fans. Incredibly blessed is what I truly am, with wonderful friends and an amazing family. After parenting four grown kids we’re this close to an empty nest. I’m spoiled rotten and I love it! Spoiling him rotten is also fun for me of course. We share our home with our Dogs Obi Pronge Kanobi and Luke Pronge Skywalker our Fur babies and one grand kitty Mia Elizabeth Rose.
Always striving to give my family, friends and professional relationships my absolute best!
With over 20 years’ experience in the field of Property Management, I’m now working at my life’s dream of being my own boss. Nothing brings me more joy and satisfaction than being able to meet and help individuals from all walks of life. Endorsing Green Living companies, as well as a few of my own is my passion as an event coordinator. Educating the public about protecting our health and our natural environment is my goal in putting on Green Living events.
Many of these events take place at our local Natural History Museum, one of my favorite nonprofits! I take immense pride in serving as Vice President of the Executive Board of Directors. Run 100% by volunteers, sponsorship’s & donations. Admission to the museum is always free, although donations are always appreciated. The Museum provides educational outreach programs to our local schools and children. Hosting at least 4 main events each year to support our fundraising efforts. Personally designing all the posters and fliers for each of these events for the past 3 years has allowed me to exercise my creativity. Designing these posters for our events is something I absolutely love and enjoy doing as somewhere deep in side there’s a designer screaming to get out.
Why am I so passionate about All Things Green Living?
Maybe because I never had the father I longed for. The one I did have was abusive beyond words but he was my dad, he adopted me after all. Sadly though, working as a janitor for many years where he used a ton of industrial strength cleaning products is what I believe was his demise. These are the products we used at home growing up and as a young adult in my own home. Cancer of the esophagus ultimately killed him when he was just 54 years old. I strongly believe there is a correlation there.
Our relationship was strained from the start. It took his laying on his deathbed to apologize for the horrible life he had given me which was decades too late… That hatchet had long since been buried. Many years later I received my own cancer scare. Prompting me to research cleaning and personal care products. That was when a whole new world opened up for me! That was my gateway to All Things Green Living.
If you read all of this God bless you! Hopefully this materializes to a brand new friendship!
